I Don't Care Where They Bury My Body
by
The Golden Gate Quartet brings together four distinctive voices in a close-harmony gospel style rooted in spirituals and jubilee singing. Their sound balances tightly blended ensemble passages with rhythmic vocal interplay, giving traditional material a lively, expressive character.
This recording features “I Don't Care Where They Bury My Body,” a spiritual centered on faith and steadfastness. The quartet’s vocal performance is the focus, with the song’s message carried through harmony, rhythm, and the contrast among the singers’ parts.
Listeners can expect an intimate vocal performance rather than a spoken radio drama: the appeal lies in the quartet’s precise harmonies, energetic delivery, and the enduring strength of the spiritual tradition.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
