You Bet Your Life
Secret Word: Room
by
Hosted by Groucho Marx, You Bet Your Life is a comedy quiz show built around conversation as much as correct answers. Contestants chat with Groucho, whose quick wit, teasing questions, and playful asides often become the heart of the program.
The show brings contestants into the studio to answer questions and try to win money, with a secret word offering the chance at an additional prize. The quiz gives Groucho plenty of room to improvise, draw out amusing stories, and turn ordinary exchanges into comic moments.
Its appeal lies in the lively interplay between host and guests: a relaxed game-show setting shaped by Groucho’s distinctive timing and irreverent humor. This recording’s title identifies the secret word as “Room.”
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
