The Sense of the Past

Read by Mark Leder

(2 stars; 1 review)

Ralph Pendrel of New York City is bequested an 18th century house in London. He travels back in time and meets an ancestor of the same name. A triangle then follows, with new-Ralph engaged to old-Ralph's fiance, Molly Midmore, but in love with her sister Nan. James wrote the novel in fits and starts, and never finished, but fortunately for us readers, he left extensive notes. - Summary by Mark Leder (9 hr 16 min)

Reviews

very wordy

(2 stars)

I really wanted to finish this because I liked the plot but gave up after 3hrs. It is sooo "wordy". The first part is all dialogue. There is little action and many, many conversations . I am grateful to the reader who undertook this epic task but found him frequently difficult to follow as some sentences seemed streams of joined up words which I could not make out. If you like endless discussions, this is for you. Sorry, Mark.
