The Wrecker (1892) is a novel written by Robert Louis Stevenson in collaboration with his stepson Lloyd Osbourne. The story is a 'sprawling, episodic adventure story, a comedy of brash manners and something of a detective mystery'. It revolves around the abandoned wreck of the Flying Scud at Midway Island. Clues in a stamp collection are used to track down the missing crew and solve the mystery. It is only in the last chapter that different story elements become linked. - Summary by Wikipedia (14 hr 24 min)

Stevenson adventure on the waves

(5 stars)

If you love Treasure Island or indeed any of RLS work this book will not disappoint. Although co-written with his stepson Loyde Osbourne the story still bares the unmistakable tone of Stevenson; the poetry and grandeur of which elevates his literature to the realm of the timeless classic. The readers are not all good . Let's try again with one good voice? 🙂

One reader, the one who read the epilogue and other chapters, was very difficult to understand. Consequently, I missed some key portions of the story.

DIS-JOINTED TALE

(3 stars)

While it does have its moments, overall it is disappointing, especially carrying the RLS monograph. The apologetic epilogues proves that the authors knew that it was flawed.
