(2.8 stars; 12 reviews)

Explore the haunting and imaginative world of Edgar Allan Poe in this fourth volume of the Raven Edition, featuring 22 of his most intriguing short stories. Known for his mastery of the macabre, Poe delves into themes of death, madness, and the supernatural, inviting listeners to confront the darker aspects of the human experience.

This collection showcases Poe's unique ability to blend psychological depth with gothic elements, creating narratives that linger long after the final word. From eerie tales of lost love to chilling encounters with the unknown, each story offers a glimpse into the complexities of the human psyche.

As you journey through these works, be mindful of the historical context in which they were written. Some stories may reflect outdated perspectives, including racial stereotypes that are not acceptable by today's standards. This volume serves as both a testament to Poe's literary genius and a reminder of the evolving nature of societal values.

No track titles

(1 star)

I downloaded the entire 5 volume collection, only to discover that volumes 3-5 have no track titles (they don't show the name of the story/poem--they just say track 1, track 2, etc.), which means that you have no way to intelligently skip ahead to a specific poem or story. For a regular audio book this wouldn't matter so much, but in a collection like this, it makes the audio book almost unusable.
