An Eye For An Eye
William Le Queux
Gelesen von Tom Weiss

Frank Urwin and Richard Cleugh are two bachelor journalists sharing a flat in London. One evening while chatting, Urwin receives a telegram from a police acquaintance to come to the local police station at once. Urwin visits Inspector Patterson who is greatly agitated. Patterson invites Urwin for a drink and tells him of a strange occurrence at a local house. The two visit the house where they discover a dead young male and attractive young female. For some reason, Patterson is reluctant to report the apparent murders. While at the house, the telephone rings and Urwin answers it. A strange voice asks if the deed has been done? Urwin indicates it has and agrees to meet the caller at St. James’s Park. Urwin finally convinces Patterson to report the crime and a second visit occurs with additional police. This time however, the dead female is not the same person. (Summary by Tom Weiss) (7 hr 25 min)

I thought it would be much more interesting but it was OK it actually irritated me by the constant foolish appraisal of Frank for the woman Eva even when he finds out she was living in the same house where a man was imprisoned and she deliberately gives him to drink poisoned port. Hah... and doesn't even get repremanded for it. Really unbelievable. And he makes such a fool of himself. And She seems to know everything, Helllooo!!!! what about investigation? ??? I do like this author, his other works are quite good but this one sucked
Terrible Solution

Lucy_k_p
The reader for this book is excellent, and I hope he is not too insulted by this low rating. It is solely based on the plot and is no reflection on his work. I listened to this book eagerly awaiting the solution to the mystery that would being everything together. However the solution is ridiculous, nonsensical and deeply unsatisfying. It was absolutely not worth my time, and I will be avoiding any other works by this author.
A talented narrator but ...

the protagonist Frank's ridiculous and lengthy declarations of undying love forced me to fast forward. Thankfully this isn't the first book I've read from the author as it would have been the last and I would have missed some of his real gems.
Bravo from Borneo

I'm an avid WLQ fan and enjoyed this book. Sure, it doesn't have as many twists and turns as other books of his and is not set in exotic foreign locations, but the plot line moves along well and I remained engaged throughout.

A fantastic mystery once again, filled with unpredictable twists and turns! I loved it. As for Tom Weiss, he does another fantastic job as always. never failing to pull me deep into the present time. Highly recommend author and narrator. Thank you to you both
Hybrid Plot Fail

Tom Weiss Fan
The poison plot line seemed to promise certain success for another popular Le Queux story but got unfortunately tangled up with the sub-plot of an unbelievably blind -even obsessive- love angle. Narrator did a bang-up performance, as usual.

Avid Listner
Tom Weiss is a superlative reader carrying the listener along with his nuanced portrayal of the characters in the book. The text, while an entertaining mystery also provides a window into the Victorian mindset.
Fascinating

This book was interesting from beginning to end. I never guessed the ending. It was very well written and clever. Tom Weiss is an excellent reader and always does a superb job.
