Daniel Defoe’s The Life and Strange Surprizing Adventures of Robinson Crusoe of York, Mariner (1719) is considered by many the first English novel. Based on the real-life experiences of the castaway Alexander Selkirk, the book has had a perennial appeal among readers of all ages-–especially the young adult reading public–-who continue to find inspiration in the inventive resourcefulness of its hero, sole survivor of a shipwreck who is marooned on an uninhabited island.

Enjoyed this reading....especially liked the difference between the childhood version I remember from my youth and this, the original. This experience has led me to find original versions of other childhood favorites. My sincere thanks to those readers and other volunteers who participate in this program (and my local public library who downloads such tales to my iPad....Great resource to an 85-year old fan of all things readable. Have had a Public library card for almost 80 years....best investment in time I ever have had....six public libraries so far in my life.....My hat is off to all those librarians! Kudos to all! If you enjoy adventure and reading about it then this book is for you. Many people wonder if placed in a similar situation how and if they could survive, including me. This story is the classic shipwreck tale. Narration is very good.

One of the most enthralling, theologically rich, and moving books I've ever listened to. Defoe is close to a theologian in how he explores the journey of a dinner finding repentance and salvation even in the most desolate and miserable lot. God's providence is wonderful. Narration was perfectly adequate at 1.2 speed and we'll done throughout. Even the thought of reading an abridged version should be spurned.

This book is full of adventure and exiting twists and turns. I truly enjoyed it . I also enjoyed the fact that the same person read the whole book it really helped me get into the story . I would suggest this book to any one who is looking for a good ,well written book🐈🐈🐈

It takes a few minutes to get used to the reader taking frequent breaks within sentences. other than that I have greatly enjoyed this book. very well done!!

Perfect reader for this epic, he had ideal pace and his manner of speaking was in keeping with an ordinary, once flawed, older person relating his life story. I loved this because it has way more depth than the Hollywood presentation of a simple survival story.The emphasis is on how a narcissistic young man endures almost 30 years of profound isolation and undergoes a fundamental spiritual awakening. I have listened perhaps 5 times now and I don't get bored with it at all. Well done to the team.

The reader did a decent job. He was a bit hesitant, but had an easy voice to listen to. The book was not my favorite. I found the main character obnoxious and tiresome.
