John Quincy Adams by John T. Morse offers a detailed exploration of the life of one of America's most significant political figures. This biography is divided into three distinct sections, each illuminating different phases of Adams's remarkable career.

The first section delves into Adams's formative years and his experiences as a diplomat, both in the United States and abroad, setting the stage for his future political endeavors. The narrative then transitions to his influential roles as Secretary of State and President, highlighting the challenges and achievements that defined his leadership.

Finally, the biography examines Adams's later years in the House of Representatives, where he continued to advocate for his principles and engage in the political discourse of his time. Morse's work not only chronicles Adams's life but also provides insight into the political landscape of early America, making it a valuable resource for those interested in history and politics.

Interesting & informative

I enjoyed how often the author quoted Adams from his own journal. Often narrators in presidential biographies talk ABOUT the life and feelings of the presidents. This book lets you hear FROM Adams himself…over and over.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought his presidency would be talked about more but it turns out it was the least interesting part of his life. Really grew in power. Was surprised about how much he was grounded in his own views.
