The Basket of Flowers

James is the king's gardener and he deeply enjoys caring for and cultivating flowers. He teaches his daughter Mary many principles of godliness through the flowers. One day Mary is falsely accused of stealing, and the penalty is death. Through many trials and hardships, Mary learns of the goodness of God, the blessing of praying for her enemies, how to consider her trials as a joy, and true forgiveness. A very moving story.

I enjoyed this story very much. It was a testimony to the loving father to his daughter who was his only child. He taught her to stay close to God in all of life's ups and downs. And especially when life was the hardest to bear. I hope that I can stand the pressures of this life as well as she did.

When I compare the world our young people have to Mary's it seems like a festering pool of death. May God forgive us and cause His faithful truth to continue to seek and save that which is lost. May the Lord Jesus, who never turns away a sinner be lifted up. His salvation can make the most degraded life into a basket of flowers.

So good, even third or fourth time around.

Excellent reader very engaging. Listened the whole book in one evening. It had been several years since I had heard the story. It had been a favorite for my daughters when they were young.
