Great Narration
Marty Kris is to be heartily congratulated for his masterful job of bringing the characters to life. Cate Barrett, a fav, is to be commended for a narration that displays her narrative skill. I am sorry she appeared too little too late. The story is full of unexpected plot twists which keep the reader somewhat engaged. Lots of evil doings and near escapes. It’s not something Expatriate would have read.
The Italian

Loved the story. It would have been better if there was only one narrator. A bit distracting when each narrator used different voices for the different characters. Overall I enjoyed it.

This is interesting as historical literature but I got tired of the effusive Italian peasant storytelling. Very long and a little tedious. Also the hero is kind of a dope.

while it’s a classic happy ending style typical of mrs radcliffe, i can’t say i didn’t enjoy every moment of the italian. vivaldi and ellena make a very sweet couple, though one does wonder how all these historical couples manage to fall in love on the strength of a pretty face! the plot was enjoyable and had some twists and turns - i found the escape from the convent to be quite suspenseful. the principle villain was very effectively done though i think his death rather scene was very stereotypically written. all in all, i really enjoyed it
