This ….Book…Is….Fantastic!!!! 5-7-25 The reader is all you could hope for. Of note: The Great Lakes-Canada area…The season depicted…the 🌀normal ways of life for man and beast in such places… then the 🌀🌀EXTRAORDINARY ways of life man and beast can make use of to survive extremes of season and happenstance…. Characters are plausible … details of natural world (plus anomalies of wind, weather, and tides) enrich one’s sense of the setting, as do the interwoven threads of geologic history and traces of indigenous peoples using resources. Intersecting life-webs of land and water….of one human with another…. Of one’s connection with one’s own self when extreme circumstances jar a person from recognizable foundations…… A gem! Am grateful for all who originally caused the story to exist; unspeakably grateful to those who cause it to exist HERE.

...and more sandwiches. I always enjoy survival stories and this one is excellent. Four young people lose their way in an overnight fog followed by an early winter storm. We encounter wildlife, injuries, weather, starvation, isolation, and more weather before rescue. The narration is excellent too.
