The Valley of the Giants
Peter B. Kyne
Gelesen von Roger Melin

The man was John Cardigan; in that lonely, hostile land he was the first pioneer. This is the tale of Cardigan and Cardigan's son, for in his chosen land the pioneer leader in the gigantic task of hewing a path for civilization was to know the bliss of woman's love and of parenthood, and the sorrow that comes of the loss of a perfect mate; he was to know the tremendous joy of accomplishment and worldly success after infinite labour; and in the sunset of life he was to know the dull despair of failure and ruin. Because of these things there is a tale to be told, the tale of Cardigan's son, who, when his sire fell in the fray, took up the fight to save his heritage--a tale of life with its love and hate, its battle, victory, defeat, labour, joy, and sorrow, a tale of that unconquerable spirit of youth which spurred Bryce Cardigan to lead a forlorn hope for the sake not of wealth but of an ideal. Bryce Cardigan has returned home to find that the family business is in jeopardy of being lost. Can he find a way to save it? This is a gem of a book having humor, adventure, romance, and most endearing of all is the relationship between father and son. As always, Roger Melin does an outstanding job of narrating. Highly recommended!

The novel starts off a bit slowly but hang on. It is worth the wait. The plot twists later are very entertaining. This was my first experience with the author Peter B. Kyne. I hope to find more from him. The reader performed professionally. Overall a jewel of a tale.

A fitting title because the men that loved the redwoods were giants along with redwoods. I loved the story and was glad that Roger Melin was the narrator because he is a giant himself when it comes to reading. So thankful to LibriVox for making the book available.

The story, the author's use of phrases and words, as well as the setting, were simply captivating and brought to life by a narrator that I'll follow closely in the future. Thanks to Librivox, to the author, Peter Kyne, and to Roger Melin, for this page-turning masterpiece. Bravo!
I wanted the story to keep going!

I did not want to part with the characters or the story. Well read! Thank you. I had a great time listening to this story unfold. I will look for more books from this author and reader.

A new author to me, but what an introduction. Roger Melin is certainly in the top three of your readers, and he is matchless with this type of book. One lesson--never trust a man called "colonel" (unless he sells chicken.

a moral story from the northwest part of California...at yes it reminded me of a combo of it's a wonderful life and any Horatio Alger story. one character appeared to me a lumber industry Mr Potter. well read by an excellent marrator

A bit on the old fashion side of a story but ageless. As one that has spent my career in the timber industry I enjoyed all aspects of the story and the presentation by the narrator.
