An interesting commentary on Christian life for beginners

(5 stars)

Pansy's great ability is discussing in plain language the difficulties and hindrances of life for seekers, professers and possessors of the true Christian life. Be it discouraging treatment by others or the perplexities of how to live a particular Bible verse or doctrine, the experiences of the Four Girls have resonance in our own times, and their lessons have greatly benefited me. Not for nothing does Revelation 14:13 resonate across her writing life, and is quoted in several of her books. I am so looking forwards to telling her, and I'm glad my Lord raised her up: And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

A Blessing

What is up with all the unmarried ministers??!!!!! I just finished the last few chapters and am shaking my head in amusement and astonishment at Mrs. Alden’s imagination and unbelievable matchmaking skills!😂 All that aside, I enjoyed the serious tone of the book and the discussions of the various social activities they were familiar with.

refreshingly spiritual!

I have listened and re-listened to Jane Austen's books so many times, I'm called there entertaining and very well written, I really enjoyed how thoroughly spiritually focused this book and the prequel were. what a beautiful focus on Christ and what actually matters in this world!
