Thank you, Jonathan! It is joy to listen to your reading. I love your easy to understand accent (English in my second language and some accents are too hard for me to understand). I laughed aloud hearing Penrod's interpretation of his world. Although stereotyping of "color people" is not politically correct, the book shows true face of the society. We have to remember when and where book was written, but is modern society much different from the one described by Booth Tarkington?...

A charming, funny book beautifully read by the narrator. An earlier reviewer suggested that the narrator had not read the text before narrating the story but the narrator pronounced the words as they were written in the story. His use of different voices for the different characters was beautifully done.
More Penrod Please!

Hello Jonathan Burchard. We were wondering if you have any plans on recording the third Penrod book titled Penrod Jashber? My family and I loved your first two Penrod books and would appreciate it if you would polish off the third one as well. Thank you.

Julia McCullough
Very enjoyable book, I cannot imagine anyone bringing this book to life in the way that Johnathan Burchard has. He is Penrod! Thank you Jonathan, I listen to all that you have recorded. I wish there were more. Sincerely, Julia.
well-read, highly amusing, highly racist

Ruth Tchobanian
Very well-delivered reading. The story itself is hilarious, but is blighted by the tremendous evolutionary racism common to Tarkington's times.
Penrod Jashber

FYI, Penrod Jashber was first published in 1929, so it won't be out of copyright until January 2025.

Appallingly racist. Amazingly funny. If you can put yourself back in early 1900's Indianapolis. A tragically flawed masterpiece.
