Abie's Irish Rose is a romantic comedy about the marriage of Abie Levy, a young Jewish man, and Rosemary Murphy, an Irish Catholic woman. Their union brings together two families whose religious and cultural differences lead to comic misunderstandings and spirited disagreements.

The story centers on the newlyweds and their fathers, Solomon Levy and Patrick Murphy. Family loyalties, traditions, and the older men’s attempts to influence the couple provide the basis for the humor, while the romance at the heart of the story keeps the tone affectionate.

Created by Anne Nichols, the work began as a successful stage play and was adapted for radio. Its appeal lies in the clash of generations and customs, balanced by warmth toward both families and the couple trying to build a life together.
