Stan Kenton’s My World Is Music presents the bandleader and pianist in a program centered on music and performance. Kenton’s distinctive identity as a jazz musician gives the show its focus, with the orchestra’s sound at the heart of the listening experience.
This recording is identified as “Sweets.” The title suggests a musical selection or program feature, but the available information does not establish further details about its contents. Listeners can approach it as a snapshot of Kenton’s radio work, where the music itself is the main attraction.
The appeal lies in hearing a major bandleader bring his musical world to radio: an intimate setting for encountering Kenton’s style and the character of his orchestra.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
