Frankie Carle
At the Edgewater Beach Hotel in Chicago
por
Frankie Carle was a pianist and bandleader known for his polished, melodic popular music. This recording is identified with a performance at Chicago’s Edgewater Beach Hotel, offering a glimpse of the hotel-orchestra setting in which dance bands brought live music to their audiences.
Listeners can expect a musical program centered on Carle’s piano and orchestra rather than a spoken drama or narrated story. The hotel setting gives the performance the character of live entertainment, with the band’s arrangements and instrumental playing at the heart of the experience.
Carle’s smooth, accessible style makes this a pleasant listen for fans of mid-century popular and dance-band music, as well as anyone curious about the sound of an orchestra performing in a celebrated Chicago hotel.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
