Gulliver of Mars
Sir Edwin Arnold and Edwin Lester Arnold
Lu par James Christopher

This escapist novel first published in 1905 as Lieutenant Gullivar Jones: His Vacation follows the exploits of American Navy Lieutenant Gulliver Jones, a bold, if slightly hapless, hero who is magically transported to Mars; where he almost outwits his enemies, almost gets the girl, and almost saves the day.
Somewhat of a literary and chronological bridge between H.G. Wells and Edgar Rice Burroughs, Jones' adventures provide an evocative mix of satire and sword-and-planet adventure.

Critiques
Book good, bad narrator.

ShaunaT.
This is a good book but the narrator here isnt that great. His voice isn't for naration which ultimately made this audio book boring.
The Alan Moore connection?

serious the dog
So is this perhaps the Gulliver that fights alongside John Carter on Mars in Vol. 2 of Alan Moore's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen? I had up until now tried to figure out how Jonathan Swift's Gulliver had made it there. A fantastic read, BTW, for the uninitiated.

An enjoyable yarn well read. There is so much more to this story that another author would want to elaborate on (maybe there is a sequal??) but as it is it is a good way to waste some spare time :)
Fun little romp

TwinkieToes
Fun romp through the author's picture of the Red Planet, visiting different people and climates as he journeys to rescue the queen.
