Gunsmoke and Stan Freberg Satire

English · Radio, Western, Satire

Golden Days of Radio presents a selection featuring Gunsmoke and satire by Stan Freberg. The program brings together two distinct sides of classic radio: the dramatic Western world of Dodge City and Freberg’s comic, sharply observed take on American life.

Gunsmoke centers on Marshal Matt Dillon and the people whose lives intersect with his in the frontier town. Its stories combine Western action with character-driven drama, while Freberg’s satire offers a contrasting style of humor, built around playful parody and pointed comic observation.

Together, these selections offer a varied listening experience, moving between the serious atmosphere of a radio Western and the irreverent energy of satirical comedy.
