Have Gun – Will Travel
In an Evil Time

Have Gun – Will Travel follows Paladin, a cultured and resourceful gun-for-hire based at San Francisco’s Hotel Carlton. A former Army officer, he takes on dangerous assignments for clients who can afford his fee, while his personal code often leads him to consider what justice requires.
The radio drama brings listeners along as Paladin travels to confront disputes, threats, and moral dilemmas across the American West. Richard Boone, who played Paladin on television, also starred in the radio series, giving the character a composed, distinctive presence. His exchanges with Hey Boy, the hotel’s attendant, add a familiar point of connection to Paladin’s life between assignments.
The series blends Western adventure with questions of honor, responsibility, and the limits of violence. Its appeal lies in Paladin’s sharp judgment and the way a seemingly straightforward job can become a test of character. “In an Evil Time” is the episode title.
