Have Gun – Will Travel

Paladin is a cultured, highly skilled gunfighter who offers his services to people in trouble across the American West. Based at San Francisco’s Hotel Carlton, he advertises with a calling card bearing the words “Have Gun—Will Travel.” His work takes him far beyond the city, where he weighs each request and decides what justice requires.
The radio series blends Western adventure with moral dilemmas. Episodes follow Paladin as he encounters disputes, danger, and people whose needs are more complicated than they first appear. John Dehner’s performance gives the character a measured intelligence and dry wit, while Ben Wright plays Hey Boy, the Hotel Carlton’s attentive operator and Paladin’s friend.
Rather than relying only on gunfights, the program often turns on negotiation, judgment, and the consequences of a choice. Its polished dialogue and thoughtful hero make it a distinctive Western: suspenseful and action-minded, yet interested in character and the uneasy line between right and wrong.
