Versailles

Gelesen von Ted Lienhart

World War 1 ended with the Paris Peace Conference (January 1919 to January 1920), which in turn resulted in the signing of five peace treaties. The most important of these, the Treaty of Versailles (June 1919) assigned the responsibility for the war and its damages to Germany and her allies.
There have been many critics of this peace process and of the Treaty of Versailles, and it is common for historians to find the roots of World War 2 in that treaty and in the German sense of grievance with it. This account, first published in Berlin in German in 1927, traces the peace talks and the process that led to the crushing terms of the Versailles Treaty for Germany. The author was a German journalist who served as a war correspondent with the German Army throughout the war. - Summary by Ted Lienhart (9 hr 27 min)
