Wild Bill Hickok is a Western radio adventure series centered on the legendary frontier lawman, played by Guy Madison, and his companion Jingles, played by Andy Devine. Together, they ride through the Old West, encountering trouble that calls for courage, quick thinking, and a steady hand.
The program presents self-contained adventures in a dramatic radio format, using dialogue, narration, music, and sound effects to bring its frontier settings and action to life. The episode title, “The Mysterious Bell Ringer,” suggests a mystery at the heart of this installment, alongside the series’ familiar Western adventure.
Guy Madison’s composed portrayal of Hickok contrasts with Andy Devine’s warm, comic performance as Jingles. Their partnership gives the show an easygoing spirit amid its suspense and action, making it an inviting listen for fans of classic radio Westerns.
