Have Gun – Will Travel

Have Gun – Will Travel follows Paladin, a highly educated and impeccably mannered gunfighter for hire in the American West. Based at San Francisco’s Hotel Carlton, he advertises his services with a calling card bearing a chess-knight emblem and the words “Have Gun – Will Travel.” Though skilled with a gun, Paladin often relies on intelligence, negotiation, and a strong sense of justice.
The radio series presents self-contained Western adventures, as Paladin takes jobs from people facing danger, injustice, or difficult choices. His travels bring him into contact with a wide range of communities and conflicts, while his conversations and careful judgments are as important as the action.
John Dehner’s performance gives Paladin a distinctive blend of polish, dry wit, and quiet authority. The result is a thoughtful Western drama that balances suspense and gunplay with moral questions and a civilized hero who prefers to settle matters without violence when he can.
