English · Dramatic Readings, Action & Adventure, Mystery & Thriller, Western

Challenge of the Yukon is an adventure series centered on Sergeant Preston of the North-West Mounted Police and his loyal Alaskan husky, Yukon King. Set in the Yukon during the Klondike era, the program follows Preston as he upholds the law and helps people facing danger or injustice in the northern wilderness.

Episodes unfold as radio dramas, using dialogue, narration, and sound effects to bring their frontier settings and action to life. Preston’s investigations and encounters with criminals, travelers, and local residents provide the framework for stories of pursuit, peril, and justice. Yukon King is an essential partner, often helping Preston track clues and confront threats.

The series combines brisk adventure with a clear moral outlook and the companionship of its central human-and-dog team. Its snowy landscapes, mounted-police setting, and suspenseful cases make it a classic example of radio’s action-adventure storytelling.
