The Defendant

(4.5 stars; 41 reviews)

A collection of reprinted articles on a wide-range of subjects, all in the unique style of G. K. Chesterton. Using wit, paradox, and good humor he “defends” a series of seeming harmless things that need no defense, and in so doing he exposes many of the broken assumptions and dogmatic notions of secular humanism and other trends of his age and of ours. Great book

As always, excellent material.

I really enjoyed this thoughtful, gentle, occasionally very funny series of essays. It is one of the best statements and reflections on conservatism I have ever heard. People really should read Chesterton more. I really appreciate his gentle kindliness and compassion for the condition of humankind. Nicely read as well.
