Have Gun – Will Travel follows Paladin, a cultured and highly skilled gunfighter who works as a hired troubleshooter in the American West. Based at San Francisco’s Hotel Carlton, he accepts jobs from people facing danger or injustice, choosing his assignments through the personal code reflected in his calling card: “Have Gun—Will Travel.”
The radio series blends Western adventure with moral dilemmas. Paladin’s work takes him into conflicts involving rivalries, threats, and disputes where a quick draw is not always the simplest answer. His intelligence, education, and willingness to question a client’s motives distinguish him from a conventional frontier gunman.
John Dehner’s performance gives Paladin a composed, articulate presence, balancing the danger of the trail with dry wit and thoughtful judgment.
