Jane Endicott revealed! More to do...
bstepno
Oh well. I posted a note seven years ago giving thanks for a correction, but now 2021 the error is back! The file labelled as Jane Endicott "Girl Bites Dog" once again is really a Walter Winchell Navy Relief program.
SHOWTIME = THE RAILROAD HOUR
Steven Capsuto
What a great collection. However, please note that SHOWTIME is not a rare series: it's just an Armed Forces Radio Service repeat of THE RAILROAD HOUR (retitled by AFRS to remove the sponsor reference).
Very nice addition

Thanks for contributing this eclectic collection. Nice to put on and listen to a great variety of programming.
Detroit
SaraBellePalsy
For decades, "Deetroit City" was a HUGE radio town . . . truly a radio city. Just think of all the shows that were created in Detroit, braodcast once, then gone forever. We'll never know what we missed. The number of radio stations compared to poulation was incredibly high, even when Detroit was at it's height of population and industry. An incredibly competetive market, especially during the 60's, if you were a DJ and got a job in Detroit, you've hit the big time. The best call letters originated in Detroit WWWW - WXYZ are just a couple of examples. Then of course, the great voice of the Great Lakes 50,000 watt WJR. Plus WWJ and CKLW accross the river in Canada. What a great place to have been from the 1920's thru the 70's. (Detroit is coming back, too)

This show this was mistaken for (Proctor & Gamble's Christmas Day In America) was mentioned in this episode of Truth Or Consequences as part of a contest they were running... http://www.archive.org/download/TruthorConsequences/ToC_47-12-20_Christmas_Seals.mp3 so it can't be earlier than 47-12-25... Still...if someone has the actual Purple Album file...please feel free to include it in the archives...
