The Rover Boys on the River
Arthur M. Winfield
Leído por LibriVox Volunteers
I present this new Rover Boys story, which tells of the doings of Dick, Tom, and Sam and their friends during an outing on one of our great rivers,—an outing full of excitement and fun and with a touch of a rather unusual mystery. During the course of the tale some of the old enemies of the Rover Boys turn up, but our heroes know, as of old, how to take care of themselves; and all ends well. - Summary by Arthur Winfield

Different Times, But Very Cringy
Elf Brown
I love the enthusiasm, of the first reader, even though he isn't a "perfect reader". It made me smile. He did do a decent job, and I thank him, for his time and effort. That being said, this particular Rover boys story was really Cringy. Many parts, of the story made me really uncomfortable. It had nothing to do with it being different times. The behaviour, of the boys, toward some of the other people, in the story, was simply mean, for the sake of being mean. The privilege of rank and wealth, like today, afforded them so much consideration, that others would not have gotten. These are issues that haven't changed, and it makes me so sad, that humans can't seem to learn, from the past. The entire story was coloured by this, so was not enjoyable, for me - through no fault, of the readers.
