On 1 hand it's great, because Arabs are BIPOC adjacent. On the other hand these stories recapitulate traditional gender roles. Maybe if stories were rewritten with all female protagonists as gay female to male transgendered and all male a lesbian male to female transgendered persons,we could make this acceptable to modern sensibilities.
