Clever mystery

Larisa Moore
The clues are all there for the listener to figure out whodunit, but the how surprised me. The narrator, as in most of Freeman's novels, is sometimes annoyingly sentimental and naive, I think to make Dr. Thorndyke look that much smarter and more objective. The reader's style and pace were good, but confusingly at the beginning of each chapter he attributes the book to Arthur B. Reeve instead of R. Austin Freeman.
This author had a wild imagination

There are many characters in this book, all of them were meticulously developed in a way that made me believe the authors suggestions. As the story progresses, it becomes more complicated and it is hard to keep the original impression of each character. I didn't reach my opinion of who was the guilty party until near the end. The reader was awesome

Such a good narrator…I love the author’s Thorndyke character and have yet to find a book with the inclusion of Thorndyke is always good. Thank you LibriVox for including Freeman’s books. Also, a big Thank You to Mr. Skyman for narrating.
Pretty good

but the least good of the R A Freeman books I've read. Guessed the murderer (and means means of proof, though not of doing the deed). Narration is excellent.

Very well read. I generally enjoy the Dr. Thorndyke books but why is it that that the friends of Thorndyke who tell the stories always seem to be rather dense?

Excellent reading 👍. The tale is without much action and moves too slowly for my tastes. The characters are interesting and there are a goodly number of plot twists.

Good reader. I guessed the criminal half way through, but it’s always fun to hear how Thorndyke worked it all out.
Great listen.

Surprise plott twists are always a favorite. No spoilers from me but it is ingenious.
