Jimmy Clitheroe
From the Jimmy Clitheroe collection, this series features television soundtracks from the 1960s. These recordings were made from open reel tapes in the personal collection of professional English comedian Jimmy Clitheroe, who had a strong interest in boxing and recorded some boxing items from TV.
Clitheroe is most famous as the star of the radio comedy series The Clitheroe Kid, which ran from 1956 until 1972. He recorded his stage act and various items of interest from radio, television, and records using one of the newly invented tape recorders he purchased in the 1950s.
Living in Blackpool, Lancashire, the heart of British showbusiness, Clitheroe appeared in variety theatres, cinema, and on BBC Radio and ITV Television, performing a cheeky schoolboy act. This collection features recordings that are now in the public domain due to the expiration of copyright.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
