The Black Cat (1895-1922) was a monthly literary magazine, publishing original short stories, often about uncanny or fantastical topics. Many writers were largely unknown, but some famous authors also wrote original material for this magazine.
The fourth issue of Volume 3, contains the following five stories:

> "Reincarnation", by Stanley Edwards Johnson: find out what happens when a farmer gets influenced by theosophy

well read. stories of the crimes of England in Oceania. a bit like listening to stories about the Holocaust from "neutral" observers entertaining for the sadistic standard readership of 19th century America
