Fleshdance (a capella)

This is the original, a capella version of "Fleshdance." Church of Euthanasia actions often featured a prop called the "baby blaster," which consisted of a decrepit 1960s baby carriage full of "carnivorous babies" (baby dolls with bloody faces and hands) concealing a large, extremely loud sound system (the blaster). The baby blaster was originally created for abortion clinic actions, and its original audio consisted of the " screaming babies " tape as well as sermons by Rev. Chris Korda and Raven Drake. The blaster's electronics were custom-built from car-stereo components and included a cassette deck for playing looped cassettes, and a motorcycle battery for power. The baby blaster proved to be effective against pro-lifers, because it spooked them and interfered with their interminable prayers and hymn-singing. It was also a crowd-pleaser and boosted the Church of Euthanasia's morale. It was soon deployed at other events, including the Blindfold Cannibal Taste Tests, which were held outside local supermarkets. Rev. Korda was tasked with creating a baby blaster tape specifically for the cannibal taste tests, and Fleshdance was the result. "Fleshdance" was created by recording Rev. Korda, Marilyn Fontenrose, Vermin Supreme, Kevin Roche, and others speaking individual words, which were then loaded into a Roland S-550 sampler, and triggered in a rhythmic pattern using Cakewalk. This technique of using vocal samples as percussion was further refined on other tracks such as " World of Hurt " and "Victim of Leisure." Chicks on Speed distributed the vocals-only version of "Fleshdance" on cassette in 1998. "Fleshdance" subsequently evolved into a techno track, and was slated for the International Deejay Gigolo release of "Six Billion Humans Can't Be Wrong," but label boss DJ Hell refused to accept "Fleshdance," claiming that it was too fast and not "Gigolo style." After a prolonged and bitter dispute in which Hell threatened to cancel the release altogether, the track was ultimately replaced with a remix made in a few hours by Richard Bartz and Hell. This, along with Gigolo's rejection of Korda's proposed cover image (taken inside a Dachau crematorium) provoked Kevorkian Records to re-release the " Six Billion Humans Can't Be Wrong " CD with the original "Fleshdance" and cover image.
