Reseñas

Edge of my seat!

(4 stars)

A piece of high melodrama and fast action involving a beautiful, amoral woman, an honest lawyer (no joke!), and a suitably dense and rather helpless heroine. The reader's charming southern US accent makes her stylised attempt at British accents and folksy mispronunciations of French placenames a lot of fun. Thank you Allyson! Worth listening to

(4 stars)

I enjoyed this story and the narration. True the heroine is different. I would maybe call her eccentric, or even naive. Not as annoying as some of the reviewers said. The narration was good and easy to listen to. I think the worst book can be good if the narration is tolerable. Some of the books on Librivox have such terrible narration I cannot even listen to them. This one is good.

Not much mystery or suspense

(4 stars)

Not much mystery or suspense but very entertaining anyway. Amusing if predicable characters along with a farfetched plot (honorable but desperate young lady marries millionaire and is promptly widowed immediately) sounds like an early talkie from Hollywood. I read somewhere the author Edgar Wallace gave us "King Kong" so farfetched seems quite standard for him. I enjoyed Allyson Hester's reading and thought she did a good job.

The Angel Of Terror

(0 stars)

Obviously, the novel is a fairly successful attempt of a thriller, which lacked in credibility when it comes to some points. For an instance, Jack's behaviour is rather questionable. Even he had enough chances to catch his enemy red-handed, for an instance in the deceased child affair, he allowed them to slip away. However, the reading is perfect. Thank You.

Eccentric reading, but I enjoyed it

(4 stars)

Just the thing for a commute. The reader is from the Deep South of the USA, so is really not up to English accents or place names. It's a bit like being read to by Dolly Parton :). I persevered & found myself enjoying the experience.

The Angel of Terror.

(3 stars)

Excellent story! Great enthusiasm by the reader. I would like to suggest that a reader do some research on pronunciations prior to recording to ease in fluidity.

Silly story but very entertaining

(4 stars)

The readers voice is so pleasant to listen to and her attempts at forreign accents funny. The story itself was naive and a bit dumb.
