Henrik Ibsen Rosmersholm

(5 Sterne; 1 Bewertung)

Henrik Ibsen's Rosmersholm, translated by Frank McGuinness and adapted and directed by Peter Kavanagh, unfolds in an old manor house belonging to John Rosmer near a small town on a fjord in Western Norway in 1886. This complex play explores a society in turmoil through the lens of pastor John Rosmer and his social-revolutionary companion, Rebekka.

As Rosmer grapples with the aftermath of his unstable wife's suicide, Rebekka urges him to abandon his privileged position in conservative Norwegian society. However, a local elite conspires to maintain the status quo. Will Rebekka's influence be enough to sway Rosmer?

The cast includes Nicholas Farrell as John Rosmer, Helen Baxendale as Rebekka West, and Ronald Pickup as Professor Kroll, among others. The music is composed and arranged by Marius Munthe-Kaas, with a talented ensemble of musicians.
