Zubin Mehta, born in Bombay, is a charismatic and cosmopolitan orchestra conductor with an international career that has spanned continents. He has successfully brought together the Western classical music tradition and the spirit of his native India.

Mehta has served as the musical director of prestigious orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. In 1981, he was appointed the permanent Music Director for Life of the Israel Philharmonic.
