All That Fall Samuel Beckett [German]
Samuel Beckett
All That Fall is a poignant radio play by Samuel Beckett, commissioned by the BBC in 1956. This work presents an almost realistic framework for action, contrasting with Beckett's later, more abstract pieces.
The story follows Mrs. Rooney, a woman burdened by grief and physical ailments, as she makes her way down a dusty country road to collect her blind husband from the train. Their journey is fraught with despair, yet it also reveals moments of dark humor and reflection on life’s struggles.
As the couple navigates their way back home, they confront the absurdity of their existence, culminating in a metaphorical exploration of desolation and hope, inspired by the 145th Psalm: "The Lord preserves all who fall and raises all those who are down." This production features a talented cast, including Tilla Durieux and Eduard Marks.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
