The Burns and Allen Show (06/25/45-2/26/50)

(4.9 stars; 4 reviews)

Real life husband and wife team, George Burns and Gracie Allen, star in this radio sitcom. Most of the antics revolve around Gracie's dizzy behaviors and George's responses. This show includes some great banter and "one liners" typical of vaudeville acts.

Musical interludes sometimes break up the show's scripted plots. From 1946-1949 the show was titled, Maxwell House Coffee Time, after the show's sponsor. Celebrities often figure into the story lines in comical ways, featuring running gags such as "Gracie Allen for President" and a hunt for Gracie's lost brother.

News headlines were often incorporated into scripts. Burns and Allen moved the show to CBS television on 10/12/1950. Some of The Burns and Allen Show episodes uploaded here are undated and I don't have more information on them.
