Captain Midnight

Captain Midnight is a U.S. adventure franchise that first captivated audiences as a radio serial from 1938 to 1949. Originally sponsored by the Skelly Oil Company, the show was created by radio scripters Wilfred G. Moore and Robert M. Burtt. It began as a syndicated program, airing on a few Midwest stations before becoming a national sensation on the Mutual Radio Network.

The title character, Captain Jim "Red" Albright, was a World War I U.S. Army pilot who became the head of the Secret Squadron, an aviation-oriented paramilitary organization. The series featured thrilling adventures against villains like Ivan Shark and introduced wartime themes as the show evolved during World War II. With a massive audience, it became a favorite among U.S. Army Air Corps crews, offering engaging stories and interactive radio premiums for its listeners.
