The Man Called X - Single Episodes
Herbert Marshall
The Man Called X began in the summer of 1944, at the height of World War II, originally resembling an FBI program. However, it soon developed a more international approach, featuring danger, intrigue, and romance in exotic settings. Each episode would begin with Wendell Niles announcing, "Wherever there is mystery, intrigue, romance, in all the strange and mysterious places of the world, there you will find 'The Man Called X'." The series starred British-born actor Herbert Marshall as Ken Thurston, an undercover international troubleshooter for a mysterious American governmental agency, aided by the shady character Pegon Zeldschmidt, played by Leon Belasco.
The show was directed by Jack Johnstone, with music credited to Johnny Green. Initially, it aired on CBS from July 10 to August 28, 1944, before moving to the Blue Network for about six months. It later found a home at NBC, where it became a summer filler for the Bob Hope Show in 1945 and 1946, eventually becoming a regular part of the NBC lineup in 1947. The final radio show was broadcast on May 20, 1952.

An excellent radio program with Herbert Marshall

The role of Ken Thurston, ably voice acted by Herbert Marshall, is good listening. "The Man Called X" in its later radio years, would be pared with "Dangerous Assignment" with Brian Donlevy, making for an hour of excellent radio adventure/mystery.

I absolutely love this program. Different, original, and keeps me riveted (with few exceptions) to the stories.
