Bill Stern was a sportscaster who, when not in the broadcast booth, had a 15-minute program where he relayed exciting stories about his guests. The stories were similar to the kind Paul Harvey would tell years later in his "The Rest of the Story" program.

Stern would add drama and excitement to the stories, well beyond what they deserved, and focused on irony or coincidence. They are entertaining and for some sports figures, the Stern shows are the only recordings that exist of their voices.
