Inspector West
John Creasey
John Creasey was a prolific English crime writer, known for publishing over 600 novels under 28 different pseudonyms. One of his notable creations is Inspector Roger West of Scotland Yard, featured in a series of BBC serials titled Stand By for West.
Inspector West is characterized by his flair for detection, persistence, and courage, making him the youngest man at Scotland Yard to achieve the ranks of chief inspector and superintendent. He is a likable character with a brisk, no-nonsense attitude, though he sometimes takes people's troubles too personally.
Between 1967 and 1971, six of Creasey's novels featuring Inspector West were adapted for BBC radio as multi-part serials, each consisting of 30-minute episodes. The adaptations starred Patrick Allen and Sarah Lawson, with scripts by Maurice Travers.

I enjoyed listening to these, even if I was slightly on the edge of my seat from section to section. The plot was fast-paced and the voice acting so top-notch, that my husband was drawn into listening, and asked me to turn up the volume. I will say these are not the best stories to tru to fall asleep with. But that doesn’t mean I won’t try it again tonight for the third night in a row. 😁

Two excellent BBC radio serials. [The first seven files form a single novel.] Which means there should be four more ... Many thanks to the uploader, excellent quality. [I have only listened to the first seven files so far but have no doubt the rest will be fine.]
recording clear - top rate

A first time experience with excellent performance quality on old time radio. Totally worth the time spent. Glad I didn’t have to wait a day between each episode.

Great Full Cast BBC Radio Drama

I first heard this Inspector West radio drama on KCRW-FM in Los Angeles, among other modern radio theater they were playing for a fund drive, I believe. I was knocked out learning that the BBC was still making top notch radio drama. At the time I first heard these, I was in my 20’s back in the 80’s, and I found it good and kind of creepy sometimes, it had lots of psychological thriller vibes. The cast and acting is top notch, as is the production, directing, sound fx, music and mostly the writing. When I was a a kid, I read a lot of John Creasey novels, mostly his The Toff series. He was probably one of the most prolific of mystery in the 20th century and one of my favorite authors to take out of the library. As I discovered even better mystery writers, I kind of outgrew him. Not sure if the sometimes corny nature of the plot is due to his original source material, or by the BBC RADIO WRITERS. But overall, this is superb , and I’m so glad that it’s up here in this audiobook app. I have stumbled upon a whole bunch of BBC Radio drama here, including their James Bond Productions and much more. Highly recommended.
