Consolation

Almost two years ago I thought I was going to be paralyzed and blind and institutionalized for life. At that time I felt that Herbert and Euclid would be my great friends in the dark. The thought was my comfort and salvation. Fortunately I recovered, and I now enjoy sight, strength, and freedom. I was right to look to Herbert for consolation in times of great trial, but he has also a sacred ordinariness that makes him equally suited to my season of restoration and healing. I’m thankful for this superb reading by Barnes.
My favorite poems to listen to.

George Herbert is my favorite poet. David Barnes’ interpretation is truly lovely. So peaceful, conviction, beautiful.
