Period Mystery

(4 stars)

From the beginning of the 1900 hundreds, this mystery shows the class and moral rolls of the turn of the century. please read this with that in mind. Whether, it is the role of women or servants in the household, read this with the time period in mind. even if you realize who the murderer is immediately, there are enough twists and turns in the story to raise Reasonable Doubt. the reader did a wonderful job and I will be listening for more of her readings.

Great Detective Story

Thanks Christine Dufour for reading this interesting twist and turn story. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was curious all the time to know what happened next. Very well read, paying close attention if there were hesitations or softly 'spoken' text.

This is hands down one of the very best of the LibriVox mystery collection. I’ve listened to it 3 or 4 times now and still enjoy it mostly because Jacquerie is so delightful to listen to. Her recitation of “The Watchers” is another of my favorite audio mysteries.

Novel starts out a little slow but soon becomes very engrossing. I enjoyed listening to this. Good story. I was guessing right til the end until of course it all made complete sense. Elementary, my dear Watson!!

Keep 'Em Guessing

(5 stars)

There were a couple red herrings in this mystery, which makes it all the more fun. I like how, in the end, there seemed to be hope for the younger police detective - he may get a better attitude and develop into a fine senior detective with some of the lessons he learned in this case. The reader was very good; technicals were all A-OK.

A good story

I listened to the first half a couple of times to follow the character development. I do have a problem when some names are similar because I am not reading them but that's the way it is. The second half was much better. I thought I figured it out a couple times but I was wrong.

well read

this is a very difficult type of story to write. It isnt perfect, but what story is ever written perfectly? it is a good story and a good writer, and well read as well. thankyou.
