Miranda
Grace Livingston Hill
Gelesen von TriciaG

The third book in the Marcia Schuyler/Miranda trilogy, this story focuses on the irrepressible Miranda Griscom. She has repeatedly rejected a wealthy suitor's proposals of marriage. The townsfolk are puzzled: why would she give up such a chance? But "jest plain, hombly, turn-upnose, freckle-faced, red-haired M'randy Griscom" has a long-secret love for a man who was accused of murder, whose escape she orchestrated. The story is good but please, dear reader, take the sing song out of your voice. Practice making your reading sound like your natural talking. Some words are naturally stressed or they're spoken louder, or softer. And the end of a sentence, pause. Listen to other readers, the good ones, and you'll hear what I mean. It's a lot of work to record a book; make it a worthy effort. Thanks, and I hope you will take this criticism as constructive. I appreciate your efforts.
Great Story, Ok Reader

Lovely story! The reader performs every sentence in exactly the same manner: She raises her voice in the middle and drops off at the end. It gives a rocking, singing sound to the sentences. I took off a star for that. If you're okay with that, you'll love it. For people who've never read Grace Livingston Hill, she's old-fashioned, hearty, always teaches a lesson, and fairly predictable--and with all those traits, bad or good, her stories keep me coming back like comfort food.
The Best of the Three

To me, this is the best of the trilogy. Miranda blossoms into the courageous, loving young woman we hoped she would become. Full of Faith, hope, and Love, GLH fills this book with suspense and thrills.

I absolutely LOVED this book! The whole trilogy is great, but 'Miranda' has it all: fun, intrigue, warmth, travel, love, and Miranda's own quaint turn of phrase! A unique heroine!
a mildly mildly interesting read

the story is rather interesting, but at times a bit slow and redundant. the reader does a good job and is consistent. the readers voice inflection took me a little while to get used to, but then it was okay.

The first 2 books in this series are filled with hateful and vindictive characters persecuting victimized women. As a reward for making it through them (or if you just want to skip to the good part!) this book presents a strong and admirable female protagonist, who determines to be happy and useful despite difficult circumstances and loneliness. This book is a real pleasure to listen to. It touches on many historical, religious and political issues while including romance, mystery, humor and adventure!
