Richard Diamond, Private Detective
The Van Dyke Seance Case
por
Richard Diamond, Private Detective follows a wisecracking New York private investigator whose cases take him through the city’s criminal underworld and into the lives of its residents. Diamond is a capable detective, but his easygoing manner and fondness for a song give the series a lighter touch than a hard-boiled crime drama.
The radio program blends mystery and investigation with comedy and romance. Diamond narrates his cases in a conversational style, trading quips with clients, suspects, and the police as he follows clues and works toward a solution. His relationship with his girlfriend, Helen Asher, and his exchanges with police lieutenant Walt Levinson add familiar personal and comic notes to the detective stories.
With its brisk dialogue, urban setting, and balance of suspense and humor, the series offers an engaging mix of private-eye adventure and character comedy. This recording is titled “The Van Dyke Seance Case.”
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
