Box 13
House of Darkness
von
Box 13 follows Dan Holiday, a newspaper reporter who leaves his job to become a novelist and places an unusual advertisement: he is willing to take on any assignment, provided it offers material for a story. The responses bring him into contact with people facing mysteries, danger, and unexpected dilemmas.
Each episode is a self-contained adventure sparked by a letter or request sent to Holiday. He investigates the situation himself, relying on his reporter’s instincts and resourcefulness as the assignment unfolds. Alan Ladd stars as Holiday, with Sylvia Picker as his secretary, Suzy, and occasional appearances by other performers in the supporting roles.
The series blends mystery, suspense, and adventure with the brisk, accessible feel of a newspaper man chasing a lead. Holiday’s curiosity makes each new assignment an invitation into a different corner of the world, while the radio drama’s sound effects and dialogue bring the unfolding case to life.
