You Bet Your Life
Secret Word: Name
by
Read by Groucho Marx
Hosted by Groucho Marx, You Bet Your Life is a comedy quiz show built around conversation as much as competition. Contestants answer questions for prize money, but the real pleasure is hearing Groucho draw them into playful, unpredictable exchanges.
The program’s secret-word game gives contestants a chance to win an extra prize if they say the word during the broadcast. Groucho’s quick wit and teasing questions turn introductions and small talk into comic moments, while the quiz provides a light framework for the banter.
Warm, mischievous, and driven by Groucho’s distinctive comic timing, the show offers an easygoing mix of game-show suspense and personality-led humor. This recording is identified with the secret word “Name.”
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
