All Star Parade of Bands

Count Basie

English · Music, Radio

All Star Parade of Bands is a radio music program centered on big-band performances. This installment features Count Basie, whose orchestra is known for its buoyant swing, crisp ensemble sound, and driving rhythm section.

The listening experience is built around the band and its music, offering a chance to hear Basie’s distinctive approach in a broadcast setting. The program’s focus is the sound of the orchestra rather than a narrated story, with the date and featured bandleader identifying this particular appearance.

Basie’s relaxed, propulsive style gives the performance an inviting energy, balancing tight arrangements with the lively feel of a working swing band. It is a fitting listen for fans of classic big-band jazz and radio-era musical broadcasts.

This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
